“Highest 2 Lowest” is a laughably misguided reinterpretation of Kurosawa’s legendary film-noir “Highest to Lowest”, modernizing the premise in ways that feel clunky and unnecessary, ultimately betraying its talented leads with unreadable dialogue and forgettable editing.
